Synopsis
In 2022, Facebook Groups had a strategic goal to improve participation metrics. We achieved this goal by helping people connect around their personal interests and removing barriers to finding quality content.
I collaborated with a cross functional team of product designers, product managers, content designers, data scientists and engineers to help our users connect to more interest first groups.
Over the course of six months, I lead a series of qualitative research studies using literature reviews, in-depth interviews (IDIs), concept testing, and user testing. I synthesized data with affinity mapping, and made recommendations for MVP designs in collaboration with my cross-functional team.
My research helped engineers smoother test launches, product designers iterate upon designs using end-user insights, and data science to improve the design of quantitative studies. My research also directly changed the product roadmap to include essential reviews, which ensured user content remained protected during our updates.
